4Cs Members will be fully aware of the ‘Pimms O’Clock’ evening drinks tradition when, two or more, boats are out cruising.

From the 2023 gathering in Liverpool there is now a new drinks forum, the ‘Engineers Meeting’.  It was first convened at the Baltic Fleet pub in Liverpool following the ‘sea worthiness’ inspections for the Mersey crossing.  As with Pimms there are a few simple criteria to be satisfied: –

• There must be two or more Captains of boats present;
• Venue must serve cask real ales;
• The discussions over drinks must include a boat engineering subject that, obviously, can include toilet tanks.

So successful was the first in Liverpool, a second was held in The Salty Dog in Northwich when boats were on the Weaver.
