Mon & Brec, BCN, Stratford with hints of: Caldon & Macclesfield
In 2019 we are planning to go mainly south west this year, but with a possibility of planning the Caldon and Maccy later in the year if things go well (as in if it rains sometime soon…) and if people are keen.
The plans so far is Martin Turner is masterminding a trip on the Mon & Brec, there are about 6 boats either shared or singles hired from Red Line. We are meeting up on the 17th May and going on till the 25th May. I think we have hired most of the boats available, and we also have a waiting list!
In June we have 7 boats doing a BCN Cruise kindly organised by the BCN Society, as their original cruise was booked up and also at a time when some of us couldn’t go. We have managed to fill this one mainly with 4C’s boats but there are two others, and its now full I’m told. We meet up on the 14th June in Wolverhampton and go on till the 22nd.
After that we have several boats moving on to the Stratford River Festival on the 6th July, with some planning to go on to other festivals on the Avon. Some boats are doing a clockwise cruise back home, some are going anticlockwise, and two are going on to the Severn to do the Estuary and coming back via the Kennet and Avon.
The point of contact for any general enquiries for the July cruise and onwards is Ric Whitby, the BCN and Mon & Brec are now full I understand.
If there is a move to do the Caldon and Maccy later in the season (mainly by the Stratford Festival attendees coming back north) then we will post any news.
Next year may be heading down to the South East, the Basingstoke has been mentioned. As has the Medway! Now there’s a challenge for you!
