A Rodborough sculptor has been commissioned to design and create a signature sculpture to be sited alongside the newly restored canal at Capel’s Mill.
Waterside park enhancement
Sam Freeman, who lectures part-time at Stroud & South Gloucestershire College, was chosen from 28 entries from sculptors across Gloucestershire. His work will be installed in a prominent position at Capels Mill, widley regarded as Stroud’s new waterside park.
The entries were judged by a panel comprising local artists, Pangolin Editions and representatives of Cotswold Canals Trust and Stroud District Council.
Sam will have the unique chance to work with craftsmen from Pangolin Editions to design and produce the piece of art. Pangolin is the world famous sculpture production facility based in Chalford. The sculpture will be made from recycled metal and other materials left over from the company’s production processes.
